Full Icon Tutorial: Shenny Best friend Icon

Today, we're making this icon:

I started with a cap I made myself of episode 11 of the show:

I cropped it and resized it:

Now, we have our base. Let's get started on the colors.
I grabbed a nice gradient-like base from :

I flipped it once so that the lighter corner would be on the top left of the image. I set it on Screen, 100% opacity.

I then duplicated the base and put it on top of the gradient layer and, also set it on Screen, 100% opacity.

Then, I grabbed this texture from :

I mirrored it and put it on top of the other two, set it on Screen at 86% opacity.

Now, the little trick. I took that same base, in a new image window, and flipped it this time. I put it on top of the other layers and set it on Screen, 94% opacity. You have to position it so that you can see the whole image without any "breaks", like so:

Now, you click on EDIT, then, COPY MERGED and you paste that layer on top of the others. Then, you duplicate it and set it on top of the others, and set the new duplicated one on Multiply, 36% opacity. You'll get something similar to this:

You'll notice that it's not a big difference, the colors are just a bit more visible.
Now, you grab this base, made by (I rotated it so that it's facing the way I want it to):

You put it on top of all the other layers, and you set it on Saturation Legacy, 100% opacity, and you get this:

Almost done! I used lyrics from Queen's You're My Best Friend.

You're the best friend that I ever had I've been with you such a long time for the first line and You're my sunshine And I want you to know That my feelings are true for the second line. I used Century Gothic, size 2, and with 100 Kerning. I set them along the white spots, like so:

Now, final touch: I used the words best friend. I used Century Gothic, size 10, in black. I made the friend bold and deleted the space between the words.

It looked kinda blah, so I lowered the opacity to 28% (set on Normal) to match the whole style of the icon. And voila!

Feel free to comment and request any other tutorial. Also, duh, don't make exactly the same icon. And, don't snag this icon/tutorial as your own and tell people you made it. Thanks, and if you used this tutorial, feel free to show me what you made with it. Enjoy!
