I grabbed an initial image from Mila's recent stuff shoot and cropped it like so:
I played with my base a bit, duplicated it twice, set the middle layer on Screen, 40% opacity, and the top layer on Soft Light, 80% opacity. I just needed to have a nice contrast without it being too light nor too dark. Don't take those numbers for the bible or something, play around with them until you like what you see. When I was satisfied, I merged the layers, then greyscaled it and increased the color depth to 16 million colors. I was gonna need that later on. I got this result:
Next up, I made a new raster layer and chose the Selection tool. With it, I drew a rectangle to Mila's left, but I included some of her in it. Like so:
I filled that selection on the new layer with a deep red ( #c00000 ) and set that layer on Darken, 100% opacity.
Next up, I made a new raster layer, and chose the selection tool once more to draw a rectangle containing Mila only, like so:
I also filled it with the same red as before, but set this layer on Lighten, 54% opacity.
For the last box, I just chose the selection tool and chose everything I hadn't picked before. You can place this box either on the Darken layer, or on a new raster layer. It's up to you. I chose to put it on a new layer. Of course, I filled it with the same red and set it on Darken, 100% opacity. It now should look like this:
Now, for the finishing touch, I chose to just put her name on it. I used the font BlackChancery, size 16, white. I wrote her name and placed it on top of the red layer on the left.
And that's it!
